How to Fix DR

You'll hear a lot of confusing and conflicting information about diastasis recti, what you should and shouldn't do, and what magic exercises will make it go away.

I'm going to really simplify the process for you:

  1. Address breathing mechanics using the tutorial in this module - this helps you connect to and engage your abdominal muscles
  2. Figure out the strength of your abdominal muscles by using the assessment at the beginning of this module. This will give you your STARTING POINT and will tell you what exercises are right for you RIGHT NOW (not too hard, and not too easy - just challenging enough)
  3. From there you need to CHALLENGE your abdominal muscles and make them STRONGER - you will not achieve this by doing heel slides and breathing exercises for the rest of your life! (Even if this is a good place to start!) The Foundational Core Programme will teach you how to overload your muscles (make exercises harder) in order to strengthen your muscles. Through the 5 levels of the programme, we will build up to crunches, planks, leg lifts and even sit ups! Remember: no exercise is "bad", there are just exercises that you aren't ready for yet!
